DMC Mouliné Embroidery floss: 730, 469, 831, 3822, 610

Tools & Materials
Blouse (low or no stretch)
Embroidery hoop
Embroidery needle
Carbon paper to transfer pattern

Stitches Used
Stem stitch
Fishbone stitch
Long and short stitch
French knot
Straight stitch


Download and print the “Floral Patch” pattern. Transfer the pattern onto blouse of your choice and secure with hoop. Refer to template for colors of floss to use for the different floral parts.

For stems: Stem stitch with 2 strands of floss (same color number as leaves in template)

For leaves: Fishbone stitch with 6 strands of floss

For flower petals: Embroider long and short stitches using 6 strands of floss to form the inner and outer petals. After which, use 1 strand of DMC 469 to stitch a single straight stitch in the direction towards the centre of the petal (see template).

For flower center: Fill in the centre with French knots using 6 strands of floss.

Release the hoop and enjoy your beautiful upcycled top!
